Ariana Chris, Mezzo-SopranoAriana Chris, born Greek-Canadian Ariadni Christodoulopoulos, has performed with several opera companies and is quickly adding to her list of international debuts. Her several assignments at New York City Opera scattered over 2007 include singing Lola Cavalleria Rusticana and covering Kate Madama Butterfly, Albina Donna del Lago, and Cendrillon Cendrillon.
This summer Ariana will return to Santa Fe Opera singing Junon in a new production of Rameau’s Platée under Harry Bicket and french director Laurent Pelly. In her previous year at Santa Fe Opera, Ariana covered renowned mezzos Anne-Sofie von Otter as Carmen, Joyce DiDonato as Cendrillon, and Patricia Risley as Miranda in The Tempest. 
In Toronto, Ariana Chris and Justin Bischof collaborated to present “Opera Trash” as part of the Alphabet City Festival to rave reviews and are happy to bring this programme to New York’s Weill Recital Hall in March 2007.  Last season, Ariana Chris debuted as Cherubino Le Nozze di Figaro with Modus Opera also under the direction of Justin Bischof and later that year debuted in the same role with Opera Hong Kong under Maestro DalBon. 
This year, Ariana appeared for the first time with the Riverside Choral Society directed by Patrick Gardner for Beethoven’s Mass in C.  As a representative of Greece, Ariana was invited to join the prestigious BBC Singer of the World Competition 2005 in Cardiff, Wales.  That spring Ariana Chris was chosen for a solo Radio Canada Début Recital followed by Dido Dido and Aeneas at the Monument-National conducted by Jean-Marie Zeitouni.  Under Bernard Labadie with L’Opéra de Montreal she covered and fully staged the role of Carmen as well as portraying Carmen in their ground breaking Technopéra series.  That summer she sang Dorabella Così fan tutte to excellent reviews under the baton of David Briskin at the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel. 
Ariana Chris was a member of L’Atelier Lyrique de L’Opéra de Montréal from 2002 to 2005 where she was featured on the main stage as Zweite Knabe Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Zulma L’Italiana in Algeri, and as Myrtale Thaïs. With L’Atelier Lyrique Ariana toured as Zweite Dame Die Zauberflöte, Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel as well as 55 performances of Carmen and Mercedes Bizet’s Carmen. 
Other performances have included Giannetta L’Elisir d’Amore with Lake George Opera, a performance at the 2004 Summer Olympics for the Canada House in Athens, Greece, her debut with Kentucky Opera as Myrtale Thaïs, Angiolina La Cenerentola at the Orford Arts Centre, Davide Penitente with La Chapelle de Montréal under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Seguin and a gala concert of Liebeslieder Walzes with pianist Leon Fleisher at the Aspen Music Festival

Ariana is currently living in Manhattan and studying with Marlena Malas and John Norris.
