Mark Lin, baritone, is a versatile singer of a broad musical repertoire. Appearing at the Belleayre Festival Opera, he was described by Marianne Darrow in the Ulster County Townsman as "imperious and grand, physically and vocally as the rejected rich Prince Yamadori" in a performance of Puccini's Madama Butterfly. His October 2003 debut with the Bohème Opera of Trenton, New Jersey, as Dancaïro in Bizet's Carmen received praise in the Trenton Times as well as the Star-Ledger. Other recent appearances include Rimrock Opera (Billings, MT) and Toledo Opera (Toledo, OH). Comfortable in a wide vocal range, he was seen at Dicapo Opera Theatre in the mainstage production of Faust as Wagner, the young student, while also covering Valentin and appearing in the cover performance as Méphistophélès! In 2002 he was an Apprentice Artist at the Sarasota Opera, where he covered the role of the Wig Maker in R. Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos. Other roles include the title role of Don Giovanni, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, both in the New York area, Schaunard in La Bohème in Texas, and Docteur Miracle in Tales of Hoffmann and Death in Holst's Savitri at the California Music Festival in Oakland, California. Besides his operatic apperances, Mr. Lin appears also in concert, singing the baritone solos in the Fauré Requiem and the Brahms German Requiem, and the bass solos in Handel's Messiah.
